Nick Pollacia grew up next door, almost like one of my own.  He stopped by Natchitoches to see us recently; he’s been away, up at West Point getting his Army Commission.  Next stop Oklahoma, where he joins an artillery unit.  One kid leaves Oklahoma, another goes.

I’ve known Gerald Long since 1962 when we were college freshmen.  Gerald is our State Senator, and if you noticed the last name, yes, he’s a cousin to both Louisiana Governors Huey and Earl Long.  He’ll likely run for Governor when Bobby Jindal leaves office.
Last night we were at a party and I shot this portrait of him from across the room.  
He’s wondering why;  I just thought the light was good.
