St. John The Baptist Anglican Cathedral in Belize City was built in 1812. The random colors of the bricks is because they served as ballast on ships coming the colony to bring mahogany back to England. The doors depict John the Baptist baptizing Jesus. They’re similar to some I saw that were carved in the State Prison Craft Program; I’ll try to verify that. The inside of the church is still decorated for Christmas, as it was just before the feast of lights when we were there. Another interesting tidbit; the Anglican Bishop and the Roman Catholic Bishop in that Diocese are first cousins!
