Rock Chapel, Carmel, Louisiana

Down a scenic road near Mansfield, you’ll find the Rock Chapel. It was built in 1891 at a Carmelite Monastery.   Monks gathered stones from the hills nearby and joined them with a mud plaster.  Fire destroyed the larger church and Carmelite monastery in 1904, leaving the Rock Chapel.
