This is a surprise 70th birthday party for my dear friend Bishop Joe Doss.  This afternoon, he was blindfolded, brought to this Mardi Gras Den of Muses in Marigny, New Orleans, dressed as a jester, and seated in the center of the room.  Friends from around the country came to take part.  We each whispered something to him that he might remember of us, then we all sang to him, and then let him take off the blindfold.  The celebration continued with some singing and silence for Good Friday.
Afterward we adjourned to a French Quarter home where food and wine awaited, with Jazz, Cajun and other live music.  The party continues tomorrow; we just can’t party all night anymore. 😉
